STEP ONE: EQUIPMENT START-UP
Kohler STRONGLY RECOMMENDS that you use an authorized Kohler Dealer/Distributor to start-up your generator equipment. Using an authorized Kohler representative will ensure that the generator is properly installed and the unit is registered correctly with Kohler so that your warranty begins on the date of start-up.

STEP TWO: THE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
Regular maintenance is recommended by the manufacturer to ensure you have POWER ON DEMAND. GenPower provides Inspection Agreements to fit any budget. Agreements range from one visit to 12 visits per year. During inspections, a certified technician will perform a 29 point inspection and a once a year oil and oil filter change. This routine maintenance allows the technician to monitor wear and tear on the unit and when needed, make recommendations for repairs, saving you costly service calls.

EQUIPMENT START-UP ADVISORY
Kohler products are manufactured with the highest integrity and quality control. A Kohler distributor or authorized dealer is the RECOMMENDED START-UP AND WARRANTY SERVICE provider on all Kohler air-cooled or liquid-cooled generators regardless of the point of sale. Kohler does not refuse to warranty the products because the owner chooses NOT to have a Kohler authorized distributor/dealer perform the start-up; however, please be advised that GenPower Products, Inc is not responsible for any issues with the new generator installation and start-up should an unauthorized company perform these services.

Be aware there are possible issues, charges and fees, including but not limited to the below items, that will be the responsibility of the owner when an UNAUTHORIZED COMPANY is used FOR START-UP OR WARRANTY SERVICE.

  • Some Kohler generator systems require a site-tech download only available through authorized distributors/dealers. Failure to install the program can result in communication errors within the system and is NOT covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.
  • If an unauthorized company performs start-up, the warranty begins upon the date of shipment from the manufacturer, not the date the equipment is started up.
  • If an unauthorized company provides the start-up and there is a failure of equipment, the owner will be required to pay a local authorized Kohler distributor/dealer to complete a generator start-up in order to verify the failure and identify its cause.
  • Should the generator fail and the owner request a Kohler authorized distributor/dealer to make a service call and it is then determined that the failure is due to improper installation, loose wiring, misuse, handling or failure to follow the recommended maintenance schedule, the repair will NOT be covered under the warranty. (See KOHLER written warranty statement for duration and exclusions.)
  • Initial equipment failure during start-up is NOT covered under warranty unless a Kohler authorized distributor/dealer is performing the start-up service.
  • If the problem is caused by an installation related error, loose wiring or it is determined the malfunction could have been caught during an authorized distributor/dealer start-up, the owner is financially responsible for all distributor/dealer charges, along with the cost of any required repairs.
